What Is a Ready-to-Wear Saree?
A ready-to-wear saree (also called pre-stitched or one-minute saree) is a saree that is stitched to your body measurements so that:
-
The waist pleats are properly set and stitched to fall and stay in place
-
The pallu pleats are also stitched for those who want it pleated
-
A petticoat comes attached with it if you want this option
-
You can wear it just like a wrap around, tie the inner layers with the thread and clasp the pleats layer with the hook.
At WiMO, we retain the original look of your saree while giving it a structured, flattering drape every single time.

How to Take Measurements
As explained above, simple saree measurements are needed:
Waist: This is the circumference of your waist at the point where you tie the saree, whic may be at the belly button, below or above
Overall Height: This is your height from head to toe (not from waist to toe). We calculate the saree height based on your overall height.

These are the blouse measurements you need to submit online: https://www.readytowearsaree.com/ready-to-wear-saree-with-stitched-blouse
Here's a detailed video showing how to take the above measurements: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3uhzGk74f0
Don’t worry if this feels confusing. After you place the order, our team will guide you step-by-step over WhatsApp or call and explain.
How to Maintain the WiMO Ready to Wear Saree
Ready-to-wear sarees follow the same care principles as regular sarees.
Cleaning
-
Dry clean or hand wash as recommended for the fabric.
-
Stitching does not alter washing or care requirements.
-
Inform the dry cleaner that it is a stitched saree so it is handled gently like a structured garment.
Folding & Storage
-
Here are videos showing how to fold a ready to wear saree:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/EL0ab0WNOCM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1EWbJ9z7z0 -
Once folded you can either put it on on a hanger or as is, neatly in your wardrobe.
Ironing
-
Readymade sarees can be ironed by your presswala like other stitched garments.
-
It may take a little time but you can also iron it yourself if you have been doing so your regular saree. Here's a video showing how to iron the ready to wear saree: https://studio.youtube.com/video/SiTMur1von8/edit
Important: If you're giving the saree to the presswala for ironing, please tell them to split the waist pleats and iron them, same as how we have shown in the video
Plus Size, Petites and Special Fits
One of the biggest advantages of a custom ready-to-wear saree is fit.
At WiMO:
-
We regularly stitch for plus size customers and petite heights.
-
We adjust pleats and flare so that the saree flatters your body instead of adding bulk.
-
For tummy-friendly fits, we suggest cutting the extras fabric on top so that it doesnt add bulk to the pleats
-
For elderly customers or those with mobility issues, we take extra care with measurements and stitch with comfort as priority.
Styling Ideas After Conversion
Since the biggest challenge of draping the saree is taken care of, you can experiment with different styling options
-
Pair with contrast blouses, crop tops or shirts for a modern look
-
Add a belt over the pallu for parties
-
For office wear, keep pallu pinned and use subtle blouses
-
For your chiffons and georgettes, and for a glamorous or informal look, keep the pallu loose
-
For weddings, layer with jewellery and statement blouses
FAQs - Saree Conversion at WiMO
How long does the entire process take?
Usually 5 working days after your sarees and measurements reach us. During festival seasons, we’ll inform you if timelines are slightly longer.
Do you provide door pickup and delivery?
Yes, we offer pickup in most locations across India through courier partners. Return shipping is free anywhere in India. If pickup isn’t available for your pincode, you can courier the sarees to us.
I’m plus size / very petite. Will a ready-to-wear saree suit me?
Yes. Ready-to-wear actually works beautifully for plus size and petite customers because the pleats and flare are controlled. We stitch completely to your measurements.
Can you stitch a new saree I’ve just bought?
Absolutely. Many customers send us brand-new sarees from different stores to convert them before the first wear.
Can you convert an old or sentimental saree (like my mom’s wedding saree)?
Yes – in fact, that’s one of the most special things we do. As long as the fabric is in wearable condition, we can convert and reinforce weak areas where possible.
Do you stitch the blouse as well?
Yes, blouse stitching is optional but highly recommended for the best look. You can choose necklines, sleeves, back designs, pads and closures.
Will the saree still look like a normal draped saree?
Yes. From the outside, it looks like a regular saree. The difference is only in the inside construction and the speed of wearing it.
How many pleats do you give? Can I choose?
The standard number of pleats is 5. If you have a preference (more pleats / fewer pleats / narrower pleats), just mention it while ordering. We will let you know if its possible, based on the saree length and your own measurements.
What if the fit is not perfect?
If there is any issue with fit, you can contact us. In many cases, we can help solve the issue over a call or WhatsApp using our guidance. In other cases we may ask you to send it back to us or we pick it up for alteration, based on the situation.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship completed ready-to-wear sarees to several countries including the US, UK, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia. International shipping charges will be shared at the time of order. Saree pick up service is available within India only.
How do I get started?
Simply place an order on our website for the relevant stitching service or WhatsApp us. We’ll guide you from pickup to measurements and final delivery.
Can you stitch any saree into a ready to wear saree?
Yes, all saree fabrics including heavy Kanjeevaram silk, embroidered sarees, cotton, net, and organza sarees.
Will I fit into the stitched ready to wear saree if I gain or lose weight?
We give 5 hooks on the waist for an adjustable fit and to take care of any size changes!
How does the ready to wear saree work with or without heels?
If you wear heels, we add 1.5 inches to the saree length for a perfect drape. Without heels, simply adjust by wearing it slightly higher on your waist—just like jeans. For versatility, select "Yes" for heels during checkout.
Do you take bulk orders for converting sarees to ready to wear?
Yes, we can convert multiple sarees into ready to wear stitched sarees for weddings and special occasions.
Do you cut the saree to make it ready-to-wear?
By default, we don’t cut the saree—we fold it to your height and stitch it, just like traditional draping. For heavy or thick-bordered sarees, this may create slight bulk at the waist. If you prefer a sleeker finish, we can cut the saree at the top, but the choice is completely yours.
